It doesn't have to be correct; it just seems more level headed than a lot of the other "Microsoft is Dead" posts I've seen. I'm not a huge Microsoft fan, but I can't picture something like Excel getting replaced overnight. Even if it's just to support legacy apps, it would take a good five years to replace Excel and push it out of the market (if competitors targeted their apps for an easy transition from Excel). Your point is well taken, though: Office is an entrenched suite of apps, not necessarily one with a great potential for growth. Good blog. I liked this analysis.
